Founder, Chief Executive Officer
Michael Serbinis is the founder and CEO of League. He is widely recognized as an innovative leader and serial entrepreneur who has built transformative technology platforms across many industries. Serbinis founded and helped build Kobo, Critical Path, DocSpace, and now League.
Founded in 2014, League is a platform technology company powering next-generation healthcare consumer experiences (CX). Payers, providers and consumer health partners build on the League platform to accelerate their digital transformation and deliver high-engagement, personalized healthcare experiences. Millions of people use and love solutions powered by League to access, navigate and pay for care.
Serbinis is also Chair of the Board of Directors for the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, the world’s leading center for scientific research in foundational theoretical physics.
Chief Financial Officer
Danielle is League’s Chief Financial Officer. She specializes in establishing lean and agile teams and has built many finance departments from the ground up.
Danielle oversees the Finance, Compliance and People & Culture functions at League. She has a passion for improving operational effectiveness and using data-driven insights to drive meaningful change inside and outside of League.
Danielle began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Audit and Assurance practice and has since gone on to transform several high-performing tech and innovation firms. Danielle got her CPA, CA designation while at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree from Queen’s University.
Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer
Dan is the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at League. He oversees our Product and Operations teams. In this role, he drives the creation of products and services that deliver value to our users and customers.
He brings two decades of market-disrupting technology experience to his role. Before joining League, Dan was the Chief Technology Officer at Kobo, where he developed a broad eReading platform that helped change the way the world consumed literature. He also made it accessible to a wider audience by entering the market with the world’s first eReader priced under $200—forcing the industry to follow suit.
Co-Founder, Chief Technology Officer
Dan is the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at League. For almost two decades, his innovative tech platforms have disrupted well-established markets and changed the way people live and work. Today, he leads technology operations and services at League to drive growth and continue disrupting the healthcare industry.
Before joining League, Dan led the development of the indigo.ca platform and co-founded the shortcovers project, which became the foundation of Kobo’s digital reading service. His team pioneered the consumer-facing software and hardware that transformed the way millions of people around the world consume literature. Dan’s disruptive tech entrepreneurship began with co-founding cyber posturing and regtech startup Commugen, whose solutions are used by one-third of Israel’s financial institutions.
Dan holds a Bachelor of Education Technology from ORT Academic College for Teachers & Technology, Jerusalem.
Chief Growth Officer
Andrew is League’s Chief Growth Officer. His focus is on driving growth through strategic initiatives and partnerships.
Before League, Andrew’s experience has been at the intersection of software, technology, and healthcare. He was previously part of the leadership team at North, a high-technology company backed by Intel, Spark Capital, and Amazon. He also worked in business strategy & operations at Google and was a Senior Manager at Monitor Group (now part of Deloitte) where he advised Fortune 500 companies on strategy, corporate development & growth.
Andrew is passionate about psychology, mental health & Canadian entrepreneurship – and is an active investor in disruptive technology companies including Avro Life Science, Lilia, Citizen Hex and Ada Support.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and a Master’s of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Chief Marketing Officer
Colin is Chief Marketing Officer at League, supporting a high-performance team responsible for all facets of marketing—brand, PR, digital, events, social—and business development. For more than 25 years, he has helped companies of all sizes, from startups to Fortune 500, take their brand to the next level across a range of industries including brewing, consumer packaged goods, media and technology.
Before joining League, Colin worked with Mike Serbinis at Kobo to expand the digital reading category brand, taking it to millions of people in 18 countries around the world. He first met Mike at LG Canada where he helped consolidate the brand positioning across multiple consumer categories.
Colin holds a Bachelor of Economics from Western University and an MBA from the University of Colorado.
Chief Legal Officer
Muneeb is League’s Chief Legal Officer, overseeing our Legal and Compliance functions as well as our Environmental, Social and Governance program. He brings a wealth of corporate and financial expertise to his role.
Before joining League, Muneeb was General Counsel for Dundee Agriculture and Algoma Steel. He was also a lawyer at Stikeman Elliott LLP. Muneeb currently volunteers as a board member of the United Nations Association of Canada as well as a Mentor at Creative Destruction Lab. In 2023, Muneeb was named by Canadian Lawyer Magazine as one of the Top 5 In-House Lawyers and one of the Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers nationwide.
Muneeb holds an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto, an MBA Finance from the Schulich School of Business, and a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School.
SVP, Customer Strategy & Solution Engineering
Naomi has 15 years of experience across corporate and business strategy, as well as in sales and delivery, all with a focus on helping organizations develop and execute growth and transformation strategies that leverage consumer-grade technologies.
At League, Naomi and her team work closely with senior leaders at major healthcare organizations to refine their digital transformation strategy and determine how League’s consumer experience platform can help them achieve that transformation.
Naomi started her career in management consulting at Booz & Company working across Australasia, the UK and Europe supporting the largest organizations across healthcare, financial services, retail, and the public sector with their most strategic challenges.
Naomi has a BComm from University of New South Wales in Australia and an MBA from the London Business School.
SVP, Product
Sarah is the Senior Vice President of Product at League. She brings nearly two decades of healthcare technology experience and expertise across providers, payers and health tech companies.
Sarah is committed to building game-changing products for healthcare that allow consumers to feel empowered and confident about their healthcare decisions. She is passionate about building product teams who are experts in their fields and are similarly determined to change the healthcare industry.
Prior to joining League, Sarah was the Chief Product Officer at Quartet Health, where she developed products aimed at tackling the nationwide mental health crisis and providing access to high quality mental health care to patients and members across the United States.
SVP, Engineering
Margaret is the SVP of Engineering at League. She leads the teams responsible for building our platform and delivering solutions to our customers. She joined League in 2016 and has successfully scaled the team from 10 to 200+ engineers.
Prior to joining League, Margaret led the Firefox for Android team at Mozilla, where they built one of the highest-rated mobile browsers on Android used by tens of millions of people. Her expertise lies in working closely with product and design teams to build consumer-grade mobile and web applications.
Margaret holds a Bachelor of Computer Science and Engineering from MIT.
SVP, Finance & Strategy
Elise is the SVP, Finance and Strategy. She leads the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Revenue Operations teams at League and supports Investor Relations and Capital Management.
She has a passion for creating business cases and solving complex problems through business modeling and data-driven insights.
Elise got her CPA, CA designation while working at Ernst & Young. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree from Queen’s University.
SVP, Client Solutions Development & Operations
Becky brings 15 years of experience in building and scaling teams in high-growth organizations focusing on operational efficiency and customer retention. Her user-centered leadership drives industry leading engagement results for customers.
At League, Becky leads the Health Solutions and Member Engagement teams which focus on creating personalized experience and positive health outcomes for users. Becky concurrently leads League’s client operations teams across the globe, driving excellence and scalability in delivery for customers.
SVP, Sales
Spencer is the Senior Vice President of Sales at League. In this role, he leads the Sales and Business Development teams who help customers reach their full potential of an unmatched end-to-end consumer experience through digital transformation using League’s healthcare CX platform.
Spencer has worked at the intersection of enterprise technology and sales for over 25 years. He is a seasoned sales leader with a track record of driving exceptional revenue growth, and building high-performing sales teams. He has held senior leadership positions at companies including Salesforce, Symantec, 1E, netForensics, and IKON. During his 13-year tenure at Salesforce as an Area Vice President of Sales, specializing in Healthcare and Life Sciences (HLS), Spencer’s teams achieved impressive double-digit growth year after year, contributing to the unprecedented success of Salesforce’s HLS vertical. He is deeply passionate about the role technology platforms can play in accelerating healthcare CX transformation, and is known for driving meaningful value for his customers.
VP, Customer Strategy
Brian leads the Customer Strategy team at League. His team is responsible for partnering with customers to ensure League’s platform is helping those customers achieve their consumer experience objectives.
Brian was previously an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, working with healthcare companies on strategy and operations topics. He later led the Product Management team at Evolent, where his team was responsible for administrative and clinical technology platforms used by payers and providers.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Science from University of British Columbia and a PhD in biochemistry from University of California San Francisco.
Former President, Providence Health
Mike Butler has over 30 years of experience across a range of senior executive roles in the healthcare industry. He was formerly President of Providence, where he helped to create the third-largest health system in the U.S., increasing revenue from $2 billion when he joined in 1998 to $25 billion today. Mike also served as Providence’s CFO and COO, with accountability for ambulatory and hospital operations, finance, strategy, technology, digital innovation, clinical institutes, population health and people development.
Former CEO, Aon Human Capital Solutions
Cary Grace is a transformational leader with over 30 years of experience developing and executing profitable growth strategies for leading organizations across banking, investment management, healthcare, alternative capital and insurance. She has held senior executive roles at JP Morgan, Bank of America and, most recently, as the CEO, Retirement, Investment and Human Capital Solutions at Aon, driving $2B in annual revenue and leading 12,000 employees across 50 countries. She is a Board Director at League, SageView Advisory and FinTech Evolution Acquisition Group.
Former Chief Innovation & Digital Officer, Aetna
Michael Palmer is the founding chief executive officer of Exhale Advisors, focused on strategy, M&A, digital transformation and innovation commercialization. Prior to founding Exhale Advisors in 2017, Michael served Aetna as its Chief Innovation and Digital Officer for five years, driving clinical, technology and digital innovations into the healthcare ecosystem serving Aetna’s 37 million members. Prior to Aetna, Mr. Palmer was a Partner/MD at Accenture, where for nearly 20 years he served health clients in information technology strategy, post-merger integration, and global transformation programs.
Chief Ethics, Compliance & Privacy Officer, Moderna
Zoe Philippides is a senior biopharmaceutical executive and with deep privacy, legal, strategy and compliance knowledge. Zoe oversees the global ethics, compliance and privacy programs at Moderna, with a focus on strategically enabling the business to deliver on its objective in an increasingly fragmented privacy landscape. Prior to joining Moderna in 2022, Zoe served as the Chief Ethics and Privacy Officer, at Anthem (Elevance Health) and the Chief Privacy Officer at Amgen, where she evolved their privacy programs to support their company mission and patients around the world.
Former Executive, Workday
Leighanne Levensaler brings more than 25 years of experience and an exceptional level of expertise in technology and business. She was formerly executive vice president of corporate strategy at Workday and managing director and co-head for Workday Ventures where she oversaw Workday investments in emerging enterprise technologies. Leighanne previously led product management for Workday applications, including Workday Financial Management and Workday Human Capital Management.
Former President, Aon Global Cyber Solutions
Former federal prosecutor James M. Aquilina is an accomplished strategic advisor and renowned cybersecurity expert. James was formerly the President of Aon Global Cyber Solutions after its acquisition of Stroz Friedberg, the technical and security consulting firm he built with other former federal law enforcement officers from the ground up. He currently serves on industry and trade boards spanning cybersecurity, global intelligence and investigations, and entertainment technology.
Former CEO, Swanson Health Products
Katie Doyle has over 30 years of experience leading and advising consumer health and wellness businesses through comprehensive transformation programs. She has deep experience in digitally enabled transformations both as an e-commerce CEO and Board Director. Katie was most recently the CEO of Swanson Health Products, a direct-to-consumer health and wellness brand. Prior to that Katie held a variety of senior executive roles at Abbott Laboratories and at McKinsey & Company, Inc. She has served as a director of Ahold Delhaize, a global omnichannel grocery retailer, since April 2019, where she is the Chair of the Sustainability and Innovation Committee and serves on the Audit Committee.
Former President & COO, League
Brian is the former President and Chief Operating Officer at League. He holds more than 20 years of healthcare experience and direct knowledge of League’s solutions, customers, and value offering. He led the strategic development, market positioning and business expansion across the US. Brian is a passionate advocate for transforming healthcare by empowering people to take control of their health and wellbeing and continues to do so as a member of League’s Advisory Board.
Before League, Brian was President and COO of WellTok Inc., a leading consumer health enterprise SaaS company. He led the ultra-high-growth tech company through its early-to-mid development phase. Brian was also Executive VP of Healthcare Services and Strategic Execution for Premera Blue Cross, a leading health plan in the Pacific Northwest. Under his strategic leadership, Premera rose to become one of the most successful and innovative health plans in the country, serving clients like Microsoft, Starbucks and Amazon.
Brian holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and BBS, summa cum laude with honors, from Boise State University.
Former President, Enterprise & National Accounts, Aetna
For more than 20 years Brigitte Nettesheim has worked at the intersection of healthcare and innovation. Most recently, Nettesheim served as President, Enterprise and National Accounts at Aetna, where she was responsible for deepening Aetna’s relationships with consumers, employers and providers, with a focus on transforming the way health care is delivered.
Previously she was President of the North Central Region & Joint Venture Market, and prior to that, CEO of Aetna’s Accountable Care Solutions organization.
Nettesheim earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and received her Bachelor of Science in economics with a minor in systems engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point. She served in the United States Army, departing with the rank of Captain.
Former SVP of Strategy and Operations, Providence
John Milne has over 20 years of experience across a range of senior executive roles in the healthcare industry. As a former Senior Vice President of Strategy and Operations at Providence St. Joseph Health, Dr. Milne focused on the strategic intersection between clinical operations, advanced technologies and the health system’s $16 billion real estate portfolio. He led the development of several new healthcare delivery models, earning a reputation for blending advanced technologies with human centered design to lower operating costs, while optimizing the patient experience.
A practicing emergency physician, Dr. Milne is passionate about cultivating health in communities. His teams have won four Press Ganey Summit Awards and six Guardian of Excellence Awards for patient satisfaction and clinical excellence (representing the top 1% nationally).
