LEAGUE DONATES $50,000 TO BC CANCER FOUNDATION

Dear Member-Partners and Friends,

I think I can safely say that there hasn’t been one of us whose life – either directly or through someone we know – has not been touched by cancer.

That is why I am pleased to announce that on behalf of its Member-Partners, LEAGUE is donating $50,000 to BC Cancer Foundation’s Inspire the World campaign.

We at league believe it is important that we all support organizations that carry on the fight against this dread disease. Thankfully, progress is being made: cancer survival rates have been edging upwards every year.

LEAGUE, you will remember, already has a strong relationship with the BC Cancer Foundation. The Inspire the World campaign is raising funds for a 10,000 square foot construction and renovation project to create a state-of-the-art patient and family support centre in Victoria. The facility will include a predictive research centre and a radiation innovation wing.

Through our philanthropic arm (The LEAGUE Foundation), we contribute 5% of our annual bottom line to various worthy causes, of which the BC Cancer Foundation is one. Doing so is a tangible expression of the 21st tenet of our Credo that states that we will support organizations “whose vision and values align with our own, whose financial motives and practices are sound. Through LEAGUE’s charitable foundation, we will encourage and empower our Member-Partners to do the same.”
