Outstanding speakers captivate audiences at two LEAGUE events on same day. Greetings Member-Partners and Member-Candidates,
October 18 was a day filled with education -- and inspiration -- for LEAGUE and many of our friends.
It started with a morning webinar, provocatively called "IGW REIT = Bear (Market) Repellant." My partner Adam Gant and LEAGUE's Chief Investment Officer, Brad Simpson, presented a detailed explanation of LEAGUE's investment strategies in light of today's volatile markets. We showed how LEAGUE's strong and steady returns contrast sharply with the roller coaster type ride and often disappointing results from the stock market. The session wrapped up with attendees asking some very thoughtful questions.

Summit of Entrepreneurs
The evening session offered something quite different. It was LEAGUE's "Summit of Value-Based Leaders," which was held at Royal Roads University. More than 100 entrepreneurs, Royal Roads students, corporate executives and members of the LEAGUE Team were on hand for a program of insightful learning. Another 1,050 people tuned in online. The gathering was part of LEAGUE's commitment to Royal Roads and its mandate to connect its students with business leaders. ![]() The keynote address featured Peter Thomas, founder of Century 21 Real Estate. He provided a special tool for goal-setting. He suggested we take a blank sheet of paper and write down all our values; then, on a separate sheet, set out a complete breakdown of how we spend all our time in the coming week. After that, the two pages should be compared to see to what extent we are living up to our stated values. It's an exercise he feels should be done weekly to paint an honest picture of just how well the reality of our actions match up to the values we like to think guide us each day. Mr. Thomas concluded by emphasizing the importance of being positive in the face of adversity and how we must push through whatever setbacks we face. Sharing a similar message was David Chalk, who overcame a serious learning disability to become a technology expert working with business icons like Bill Gates and Martha Stewart. We also heard compelling remarks from Jan Folk, founder of National Home Warranty. Rounding out the evening, my colleagues Adam Gant and Brad Simpson joined me in adding our voices to the discussion, drawing from our own experience in starting LEAGUE and working with our Member-Partners to build the company into the success it is today. If you missed the "Summit" that night, click here to watch a re-broadcast online. We look forward to holding more of these types of special events. We hope you'll join us online or live in person when we do. Warmly and sincerely,
