Dear Member-Partners,
As mentioned in a recent letter, we are delighted in our success in recruiting a number of experienced executives to join the League team. In my most recent letters, I introduced Graham Carrothers as our new in-house legal counsel, David Yan as our Vice President of Member Services, and Andy Searle as Senior Accountant. Here, let me introduce another.
Jacco Kooy, Vice President of Capital Markets & Risk Management
Jacco has been involved in the financial services sector for more than nine years, both in Canada, as well as Northern Europe.
For the last seven years Jacco has been employed by a leading European investment bank and the largest independent commodity broker, responsible for the trading and sales of investment products to his institutional and corporate clientele. Prior to that, his was Head of Foreign Exchange Trading at Cargill, Canada's head office treasury division, one of the world's largest trading companies.
His responsibilities included providing market information to business units and developing and maintaining a system to allow the hedging of these internal exposures and proprietary trading. Jacco's main imperative was to closely monitor and evaluate both current and future events that could affect Cargill's core businesses and to implement methods to mitigate this potential risk for the business units and the proprietary trading book.
Before entering the financial field, Jacco employed his skills in an entirely different risk-mitigating way: he was an operator in the Royal Netherlands Air Force charged with operating a Surface to Air Missile (SAM) battery stationed throughout Europe.
Jacco has been working behinds the scenes here at League for a little over a month.
As VP of Capital Markets and Risk Management, Jacco is responsible for allocating capital to various risk management products, and for ensuring that the currency, interest rate and maturity sensitivity characteristics of League asset pools and liabilities are within prescribed risk parameters.
Through his leadership, Jacco Kooy will help to prevent external market forces from affecting League's investment pools so that they are able to support and enhance our Member-Partners' goal of growing and sustaining their families' Intergenerational Wealth.
Kind regards,
Emanuel.
